I make records in the San Francisco Bay Area. Recording, mixing and mastering, in stereo and in Dolby Atmos.
The job starts before anyone plays a note. Ask me anything: which room, how many days, what to track live, what to fix now rather than in the mix. I’ll give you a straight answer, and I’ll make sure the record is set up right from the start, so nothing has to be rescued later.
I’m direct, and I don’t do spin. If a song isn’t ready, a room is wrong for you, or you’re about to spend money you don’t need to, I’ll tell you, even when it costs me the booking. The decisions get made for the record and your budget, not my invoice.
I spent years as the drummer on your side of the glass. I know what the session feels like from there, and I know what it feels like when a session goes great and that’s always my goal,
What I do
Recording
Mainly at Sharkbite in Oakland. Around the Bay Area I also work out of 25th Street Recording, Brothers Chinese Recording and Shiny Eyes, or bring a full rig to a house, a barn, or wherever the record wants to be made.
Mixing
Stereo, Dolby Atmos, or both from the same session, mixed in my own Dolby approved, tuned 7.1.4 room at home.
Mastering
Stereo and Atmos mastering in the same 7.1.4 room. A fast turnaround if the mix is done, and a finishing engineer for mixers who don’t want their work undone.
